NIPR Nasarawa Chapter lauds IMAP Rector on adherence to professional ethics

The Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has lauded the Rector of the Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic Lafia, Dr. Nurudeen Mu'azu Maifata, for adhering to professional guidelines in the appointment of managers of various units and directorates of the institution.

State Chairman of the NIPR, Mr. Joseph Attah, made this known during a courtesy visit at the institution in Lafia.

Attah, a former comptroller of customs, said the professional body is pleased with the appointment of one of its esteemed members and two-term chairman, Mukhtar Wakeel, to superintend the newly created Directorate of Information, Public Relations and Protocol of the Polytechnic.

He expressed profound confidence in the ability of the appointee to deliver in his assignment, noting that the image of the institution is fast-growing since the appointment of Wakeel, a veteran journalist and foremost public relations consultant.

He commended the Rector for prioritising the unity and progress of the institution above all interests, appreciating him for his relentless support to the members of the Institute to carry out their responsibilities effectively.

He advised the Polytechnic to tread the path of Nigerian universities in unbundling mass communication as a course into advertising, broadcasting, journalism and public relations for requisite skill acquisition and effectiveness.

The Chairman of the NIPR, who was in company of his officials, charged the Rector to continue to move the institution on the path of transformational development devoid of

parochial encumbrances.

Responding, Acting Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Nurudeen Mu'azu Maifata, said under his stewardship, quality and welfare of staff and students would be given topmost priority, noting that his mantra of a united IMAP is not negotiable.

Dr. Maifata said the Polytechnic created and upgraded seven new directorates to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in services delivering, maintaining that Wakeel has so far proven his worth as pioneer director.

While responding on the unbundling of Mass Communication to various courses, the Acting Rector said the institution is ready to comply with the directive of the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to give all students room for optimal performance.

The NIPR delegation had among other officials present, Rayyanu Bala (Ex-Officio) Ahmad Jubrin Ibrahim (Ex-Officio), Louis John Ogah (Ex-Officio), Muhammad Lawal (Auditor), Shuaibu Usman (Media Aide) and Aisha Hassan Nalaraba.
