Nasarawa State Government today, October 12, 2024 - In a significant move to bolster human capital development in the state, Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima, launched two critical documents: the Nasarawa State Human Capital Development Strategy and the Nasarawa State Gender Transformative Human Capital Development Policy Framework.
The launch, held at the State Government House and it was attended by Governor Abdullahi A. Sule, top government officials, and distinguished sons and daughters of the state.
The Nasarawa State Human Capital Development Strategy outlines a clear roadmap for improving education, healthcare, and economic opportunities for citizens of the state.
The document focuses on enhancing access to quality education, improving healthcare services, promoting entrepreneurship and job creation and developing infrastructure for sustainable growth.
In the other hand the Nasarawa State Gender Transformative Human Capital Development Policy Framework prioritizes gender equality and social justice.
The key objectives of the policy includes bridging the gender gap in education and economic participation, empowering women through skills training and entrepreneurship, addressing gender-based violence and discrimination, promoting inclusive governance and decision-making.
During the launch, Vice President Shettima, accompanied by Governor Sule, distributed palliatives to citizens from across the state and the items includes cooking stoves, spaghetti, rice, sewing machines and grinding machines
These palliatives aim to alleviate economic hardship and support vulnerable populations, particularly women and low-income families.
In his speech Gov. Abdullahi A. Sule
reaffirmed his administration's dedication to human capital development, stating, "We are committed to investing in our people, ensuring they have access to quality education, healthcare, and economic opportunities."
Vice President Shettima emphasized the importance of human capital development in driving national growth. Staying that "Nigeria's future depends on the quality of its human capital. These documents demonstrate our commitment to empowering citizens and promoting sustainable development."
The launch was attended by representatives from international organizations, civil society groups, and private sector stakeholders. The event highlighted the need for partnerships and collaboration to achieve human capital development goals.
The Nasarawa State Government will establish a monitoring and evaluation framework to track progress and ensure effective implementation of the human capital development strategy and policy framework.
