Sen Al-Makura: the brain behind Teaching Hospital Lafia appreciate Mr President

Dalhatu Arab Specialist Hospital Lafia popularly call DASH Is Fully Ready For Take Off Of Teaching Hospital.

Senator Umar Tanko Almakura said, in his words: “I am excited and I am filled with unlimited joy that by the special grace of God, something that I conceived when I was the governor has materialized.

The Chief Medical Doctor said the hospital has all it takes to start working immediately. He said this at the National Assembly, where a Public Hearing was conducted by the Senate Committee on Health, as part of the procedures for the passage of the Bill sponsored by Senator Umar Tanko Almakura, seeking the establishment of a Teaching Hospital for the medical college of the Federal University;

Dr. Ikrama who said the situation on ground is a “win win situation”, explained that the Federal Government does not need to do so much as adequate infrastructure, equipment and manpower are already on ground, adding that if the Federal Government gives the additional needed support, “we are on our way to having a robust Teaching Hospital.”

He however expressed confidence that the bill will sail through. And today here are we , it's a moment of celebration and appreciation to the former governor of Nasarawa State, Senator Umar Tanko Almakura for sponsoring the bill, a big thank you to the former president Gen. Mohammadu Buhari for given way for the bill to strive and a bigger applause to the President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for letting it go forth.

The former Senator of Nasarawa South senatorial Zone, Senator Umar Tanko Almakura, has expressed gratitude to President Muhammadu Buhari for assenting to the bill for the establishment of the Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital.

The senator who is the immediate past governor of Nasarawa State, gave the commendation also to the present President Ahmed Bola Tinubu for making it a success.

Senator Umar Tanko Almakura said, “I conceived the idea of a Teaching Hospital in 2012 when the delegation from the Federal Government visited us at that time for the take off of the Federal University of Lafia.

“I even went ahead and improved the structures and equipment at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital Lafia and also built

another separate structure befitting of a teaching hospital in Lafia.

“So after my tenure as a governor, I was elected to serve as a senator and I decided to continue with the dream of having a Teaching Hospital in Lafia to serve the University.

“I therefore sponsored the bill for the establishment of the Teaching Hospital and it had undergone all the necessary legislative processes and passed in September 2022 thank God the President had graciously assented to it recently.”

He said the hospital would be of enormous benefit to the state and beyond in terms of training more medical doctors and addressing the various health needs of the people.

The senator said he has attracted a lot of federal government presence to his constituency and promised to do more to improve the welfare of his people.

The bill for the establishment of the Teaching Hospital Lafia was among the bills signed into law by the President recently.

Senator Tako Almakura who spoke earlier in defense of the bill said the teaching hospital when established will bring succor to not only the people of Nasarawa State but also to those in the surrounding North Central States and the FCT.

Emirs of Lafia and many other stakeholders from Nasarawa State also spoke passionately in support of the bill as they appreciated the former Governor, Senator Tanko Almakura for laying a solid foundation for the take off of the Teaching Hospital in Lafia.
