Sultan denounced the hoarding of wealth by public officials

The Sultan of Sokoto Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar has call for comprehensive measures to curb corruption and promote fairness in the country.

The Sultan, who spoke in Abuja yesterday at the 2024 first quarterly meeting of the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) with the theme: “The Role of Religious Leaders in Combating Corruption and Cybercrime,” queried why corruption has refused to go in Nigeria.

He pointed out that many public officials become rich overnight and become multi-billionaires with private jets after leaving office, with no one questioning how they made their money.

Sultan emphasizes the need for a study to find out why corruption persists in Nigeria and stresses that those in

power should not be above the law and that their actions have consequences, as they will eventually leave office and face the consequences of their actions.

Sultan Sa'ad highlights the suffering of the common people, who cannot even afford one meal a day, and calls for action to address corruption before it consumes everyone.

He emphasizes the need for religious leaders to play a role in combating corruption and cybercrime in Nigeria.
