Amidst allegations of potential compromise, Hon. Ayuba Wandai, Chairman of the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC), has reaffirmed the commission's commitment to conducting free and fair council elections.

Rumors had circulated that NASIEC would favor the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in three local governments: Keffi, Karu, and Nasarawa Eggon.

However, when contacted, Wandai vehemently denied these allegations, assuring the public that NASIEC is dedicated to organizing the most credible election in Nasarawa's history. This reassurance comes as the commission prepares for the November 2, 2024, local government elections.

NASIEC has been working diligently to ensure a smooth electoral process. The commission has released the election timeline to guide political parties and stakeholders, conducted

meetings with the Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) to foster collaboration and emphasized adherence to electoral guidelines to prevent irregularities.

With 1,043,587 registered voters and 176,846 polling units across the state, NASIEC's efforts aim to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.

As NASIEC chairman, Wandai has consistently emphasized the importance of transparency and fairness. His denial of the allegations and reassurance to the public demonstrate the commission's resolve to conduct credible elections.
